Baby Blankets

I love weaving baby blankets. It is always a thrill to welcome a new baby into our community.

Many of the blankets are done in cotton – some of it organic but at times just plain cotton or combination yarns.  Mostly I try to pick yarn that will wash quickly and tolerate the wear and tear of baby use!  Always being attentive not to make long floats to avoid catching little fingers etc.

The edges are finished with satin biding.  Some folk feels it takes away from the handwoven aspect of the blanket but I don’t mind it.  It is just a matter of taste.  I’ve tried to keep some blankets for my children’s children, but it is not going to work out.  I’d rather give the blankets away and just plan to weave some more when that blessed day comes.

Scarfs

Scarfs are one of my favorite items to weave. I weave them for friends and family to celebrate special occasions like for our trip to France.

Shawl

This picture doesn't do justice to this lovely shawl which was given as a surprise to a bride. Few times does a weaving turn out more beautiful than expected.
